Join mixed media figurative artist Jackie Reeves once a month for a 3 part series working with a live model. Come to one class or all three for a discounted price and enjoy a welcoming environment where there is no judgement and all levels are welcome.
Each class will start with 30 minutes of instruction on short pose gesture drawings designed to warm up and loosen up. These exercises help beginners and advanced level artists to relax, loosen up and get comfortable with drawing the figure before settling into a longer pose. Charcoals and paper will be supplied for this portion.
After a short break the model will take one pose for the remaining 2 hours. Choose the medium you’d like to explore; charcoal, ink, acrylic paint, collage or oil paint to work on a more detailed figure study. Please bring the supplies and surfaces you will need for the longer pose. You may also continue to work in charcoal on paper with materials supplied by the center.

Has it’s been a while since you’ve sketched? Or maybe you feel intimidated to take a drawing class because you think you’re not good enough? You could also be someone who just wants the discipline of working on your drawing skills with a professional artist. Whatever your reason, I welcome you to join me in drawing from scratch. Revert back to your preschool days and start all over again. This time you’ll bypass all the insecurities that come with drawing and stick with the fun, expressive, exploratory and intuitive nature of this medium. This is not your ordinary drawing class. I promise to keep it fun while showing you how to start training your brain to see shapes, lines and values. We will work from our imagination and from observation. Experience the joy of drawing again!
Materials are included but I encourage you to bring a fresh 9x12” spiral bound sketch book and a set of your own drawing pencils.
